Madison

I’m very excited to be living in Madison this summer. I’ve heard that it’s a wonderful city. I’m going to be working in the Astronomy Department at UW. While I am very excited about the project that I’m going to be involved with, I am a bit embarrassed that one of the facets of this opportunity which pleases me the most is that I won’t be working underpaid retail this summer.

If anyone has any suggestions for great places to visit, things to do, or things to see in Madison, I’d love some suggestions!

This clean, down to earth, and friendly city is a nice break from hectic urban life, even though it is a small city itself. It’s lake does not seem as polluted as Lake Michigan in Chicago but has a delightful path that wraps around it. A nice variety of nightlife, women’s clothing stores (reasonably priced yet cool), and we enjoyed staying at the Gillman Street B&B. They have a lovely blue and white room with queen bed that is uuber comfy.

Madison is awesome! The campus and capital are closely tied, with State Street connecting the two. It has a great atmosphere that I haven’t experienced elsewhere. The capital is highly accessible, and often hosts events on the lawns or the streets surrounding it, such as farmers’ market, tasting festivals, and live music.

I can’t remember when I visited here. I know I visited the congregation there called Four Lakes church of Christ. One afternoon we spent a lot of time at the Capitol where there was (i think) a farmer’s market. It was pretty neat. Then we had this awesome breakfast at some great restaurant. I remember the pancakes being very very good!

It’s a great Capital, but kinda ruined by the University. Sorry, this college town is too cwazy to be respectable.

Madison Rocks!!!

I was a little, so there isn’t a lot of specific things I can remember about the town but I have family that lives here and they seem to like it.

My grandma lives in Madison and so, therefore, I have been visiting the city for most of my life. Downtown Madison is a lot of fun. I appreciate cities where you can walk all day and see a lot of sites and still feel safe while doing so. There are a lot of varied shops and ethnic places to eat, which I enjoy. The capital building is definitely worth visiting- you can just walk in and look around.

The nicest city in the whole wide world! The capitol, state street, the Memorial Union.
