Buffalo

Right or wrong I often associate places with food and most people would expect to hear about wings when you visit Buffalo. However – have you ever had beef on weck? It is hot sliced beef served on a soft roll that has salt and caraway seeds on top. The one I tried was served with au jus and horseradish on the side – completely delicious.

OK – so I have done a lot more than eat in Buffalo.

Today I had a 3 hour walking tour of downtown – some really incredible building including city hall and Adler and Sullivan’s Guaranty building. We also took the free above ground train from Church (after we toured Upjohn’s St Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral from 1851. When we entered organ music was resounding because the organist was practicing) to Theater (where we walked to see Trinity Episcopal Church and the Tiffany and LaFarge windows).

Buffalo seems like it needs some kind of downtown revitalization. There are so many empty store fronts and closed businesses.

What can I say? I was only there for four days so I didn’t see much of the city, it was kind of dirty and depressing. They do however have a nice co-op type place with lots of good organic food. Some beautiful old houses and churchs, plus, Ani Difranco lifes there! And I got to visit babeville which was really fun (and we found out where she lives)! But I’m not in a hurry to go back anytime soon..

Buffalo is amazing. Very underrated. It has a bad reputation because of the snow storms that are reported on TV. Truth is, the snow isn’t THAT bad! There are some great restaurants and great places to shop throughout the town. Overall, Buffalo has a great atmosphere! I hope to move back (I went to college there) as soon as possible!

Born here and all of my relatives live here. Luckily, I get to visit at least twice a year. Wings, hockey, what else can I say? The people in Buffalo are the best people I have ever met.

I was born and raised in Buffalo and I love it! This city is rich with history,culture,architecture and great food! I see a great revivial of the city happening before my eyes, and it excites me to be apart of it.

I do not remember much about this city to tell you the truth. Before I became mostly vegetarian I indulged in the Buffalo Wings that this city made a national sensation. I enjoyed the waterfront aspects. I’ve been several times to fly out of the airport while I lived in Western NY for a handful of months. I would like to return—what little impression I had of it was enjoyable and the residents are very down-to-earth people that say “Please” and “thank you” despite the idea that many people have about New Yorkers. I also went to Niagra Falls on the NY and the Canadian side …also a must see wonder.

its just ugly, depressing, and ghetto. man it made me appreciate where im from! toronto!

hockey games…enough said. I love the sabres and I have for my entire existence, I am not one of the annoying new go along with the crowd fans.

on the way back from Toronto. 8 PM on Sunday and EVERYTHING was closed for dinner on what was supposed to be the hotspot in town (Chippewa). The place was dead empty and the surrounding areas looked very run down. We finally had dinner in a diner in suburban Buffalo. Bland strip mallish. Might be something of value here, but I did not witness…
