Fresno

Especially from people that live, or have lived here. This town is far from boring. I suspect that people who say fresno is boring are people who lack any imagination and are easilly bored…thus boring people. I added a bunch of places within fresno for locals and visitors to check out. I challenge anyone to check out this list of places to go and things to do and still say Fresno is a boring hick town. It’s a town with history, and character with great locally owned shops and clubs to give you a much more personal experience than the hustle and bustle of big city corporate businesses can offer. If you live here and haven’t been to at least half these places, then shame on you for not knowing your own home.

It’s not that it’s particularly bad, it’s just bleh. You find weird and dirty things everywhere, and there’s literally nothing to do. Never visit Fresno just to visit fresno. Hopefully you’re just stopping for a big mac on the way to somewhere else…

Fresno is a down-to-earth, friendly place for families. Not a flashy town, it’s a little slice of the farming midwest or the South. The people couldn’t be nicer. My dad is from the Central Valley and that’s where I’m going to live soon. A great place to raise kids.

There’s stuff to do anywhere if you really look…

I lived there in my late teens, so naturally I hated it….. The downtown was kind of cool, though.

Somehow I managed to add this as a place I want to go, but here I am, in Fresno. Born and raised, but lived many years in Europe and Mexico. But, since I’m here…check out La Posta Mexican Restaurant on Palm and Belmont. Great food and inexpensive. Hmmm…not much to recommend here. A poetry society and some good art galleries. I give up. Can’t be objective. (But Pulitzer prize winning poet Phil Levine did live here for years)And so did William Saroyan…

And it is possible to do Fresno right. But you got to know people. My friend DJ Jordan knows Fresno. He has been building community and good vibes there since he was born. Visit him if you want to find some local color worth seeing. This photo reminds me of a trip we took across country, and the sunsets we saw across the United States.

I have some relatives here, and its a really beautiful place. Well at least compared to Joliet area!! Sun shine rocks!

Left as soon as I turned 18 and hope that I will never be forced to live in that boring place again. Only go home once a year to see the folks who are still trapped in the hillbilly town.

The funny thing about Fresberg is that no matter where I go in the world – everyone seems to know the name of Fresno. Which is surprising when you consider that it isn’t that big. But they all know Fresno from movies making fun of the fact that it is such a dump.
