Albuquerque

sandia crest is gorgeous, and the tramway is awesome.

Sandia Peak is a great place to spend a day. Ride the tram to the top, hike the rest of the way to the peak (about 2 miles or so), and have dinner at the top! Great winery nearby at Sandia Shadows.

It’s got beautiful views all around and it’s just great place to be! I loved the scenary, the people and all the great stuff there is to do. Definitely check out the hot air balloon festival!

There is Flirt. Getting a chance to actually spend time with her is almost irresistible. And Dawn! Had hoped to get to meet the Hawkman but then he couldn’t make it. It’s about the 43T get together, and all the people I would get to meet and I do want to be there. At the same time, I have major trips both before and after.

And there is Albuquerque and the places around it.

Flirt, I want to go. At work today I’ll piece together my calendar. That other thing I told you about is still hanging too.

I have cousins that live in ABQ and I’ve been there to visit a few times over the last two years. The first time I went there (and the others though not as bad), I got really sick from the altitude.
Things I enjoyed:
-Multiple coffee shops aroung ABQ
-Downtown Albuquerque / The native american vendors, tourist shops though not too many of them, etc.
-The thrift store “Savers”
-Dion’s Pizza
-Driving at night along Tramway, overlooking the city, seeing the lights, etc.

Things I wish I would have done:
-Gone to the giant flea market
-Gone up Sandia Peak
-Done more shopping

My wife was born here, so while driving about the southwest I felt obligated to drive through. It was nice, but far from memorable. I would need to spend some time here to really get the whole experience.

What a sad place.

It was cool. I visited a friend that lives there. We hung out and it was just like any other town. I did go to a cool model shop.

Not much to see here. Move along. Move along.

My favorite thing about Albuquerque is the food. Sopipias are AMAZING. They are a pastry unique to New Mexico (and a few other parts of the southwest US) and you can eat them plain with honey or stuffed with meat, beans & cheese. The ones at Pete’s Cafe in the small town Belen outside of Albuquerque are the BEST.

For fast food: Bob’s Burgers has reeeaaaally good chili burgers & chili dogs. The chili is actually HOT like it should be.
Also Alotta Burgers are good & have some yummy cherry shakes.

Other cool things: the pink freeways & the gorgeous purple mesas.

It’s also nice to go somewhere in the US where people know the difference between being Spanish and Mexican. People in Cali can’t grasp that concept…

I spent way too much time here while pursuing my Bachelor’s at UNM. Fun place for students. Easy to get around on foot.
