Liked Denver
Want to go back, and stay at Browns Hotel. Great food, enjoyed the culture, but not sure about the politics.

Worth visiting!
So many people told me that Denver wasn’t worth visiting that I was a bit worried. But we had a blast! The traffic was horrendous driving in—and that’s coming from an Atlanta native, so I know bad traffic!
The city, though, was wonderful! To the west was the spectacular views of the mountains. Breathtaking! And all around was interesting architecture, and lots of public art.
My top picks:
Tattered Cover Bookstore, Colfax Avenue
Denver Public Library: beautiful and great art!
Civic Center Park
Byers-Evans House
Parking is hard downtown, and you have to pay…except after 6 pm and on Sundays, when you can park in the metered spots for free. But it’s worth it. So many beautiful buildings, and statues everywhere. I will be going back; I just don’t know when…

So, I already love this place and have visited many, many times.
My Pops grew up in the Park Hill neighborhood of Denver… the little house I visited during childhood has inspired and influenced me. Although it is now a 2 story (popped the top) and owned by another family, it holds a special place. One I didn’t realize until it was all gone. Now I have my own little place in STL, a city gingerbread cottage as they call it. Same era and adorned by a very special dining room set that fits just perfectly. It has been a long while since I was in Denver… and I need to go back. Not just me, but I would love to take my Pops back. I know he misses his hometown and wishes he could visit, but details hold us back right now…
My goal, find a way to get Pops back to Denver and be able to enjoy the visit with him. And if we get to the mountains while we are there, it will be icing.

I live here. I find most people here pretty friendly. This is a as far east as I will ever go having lived all over the west including Alaska, Idaho,Montana and California.
It’s impossible to live without beautiful mountains around. If you grow up backpacking, skiing, kayaking, etc. it’s the place to be and if you want to try those things it’s great. The weather is fantastic here and low humidity which is great to and one of the best things about the west.

For those who know both places, I find Denver to be a cross between Dallas and Calgary. Strong wetern influence but rooted in the Rockies. Beautiful city. Weather is unpredictable… I once landed in a blizzard at 30F and the temperature went up 10F each day that week until it was pushing 90F the day I left. Try packing for that trip!
