Bummed...

So, my best laid plans… I had planned to schedule a training class for my job in Calgary in late May with one of my old professors. I was so excited about it. One, because it was with one of my old professors… Two, because it was in Calgary… Well, I was laid off from my job a few weeks ago, so it looks like I won’t be going to Calgary anytime soon. This has certainly been the year of canceled trips… meh. It has to get better, right?

Why I want to go to this place

Calgary actually wasn’t on my list at this time, but if all goes well crossing fingers, I will be attending a training class in Calgary in late May for work. The choice was Bakersfield or Calgary, so I am aiming for Calgary. I had a wonderful experience last year in Toronto; I thought the Canadians were so friendly and welcoming. I am eager to explore the other provinces. I’m hoping I can explore a few of the things that city has to offer after classes.

News about this place

In calgary it is very crowded well for me because im just a small city fan. It is very cool though WARNING: CITY IS VERY PULUTED! Yes, so if you move be careful. Also a tip marketing is very low right now in the winter, spring and fall. another tip you should live close to ufc or somerset or bridlewood.

A review of this place: Boring

I found Calgary an uninteresting place to visit. Just an average mid-sized North American city. It is though the starting point if you want to go to the Rockies, which are quite amazing and well worth the trip.

The last time I went to this place

Beautiful city-everything was so clean and I loved the parks, water views, greenery, everything! The people were very nice and the weather was pleasant in mid-September. There are so many places to visit-we just never had enough time to get around to see everything. Hope to get back up there someday soon.

A review of this place: A grossly underrated city of culture. I want to go back.

I visited Calgary and Banff last weekend, and I had a blast. Surely, it had a lot to do with my friend who showed me around the city. But there’s a lot to see. Many great little neighborhoods surround downtown. Yes, it gets really sprawly in the outskirts, but that’s not unlike any other mid to major city. If you stick to the one or two tier neighborhoods, there’s plenty to do and see.

Excellent food, sights, people, etc. Wish I had time to say more. I definitely plan to go back.

And while I certainly don’t consider this a negative or positive either way, Calgary isn’t really a “cowboy” city. During the Stampede in July, sure, I can imagine. Outside that, nope. In the three days I was there, I counted only three cowboy hats. And those were probably the tourists.

A tip I have about this place

I travel to Calgary on business frequently and stay at the Sheraton Eau Claire. Great hotel and location. The park along the river provides a relaxing walk and an opportunity to watch lots of geese.

For young, fit people like me, downtown is small enough that you can walk everywhere. Calgary actually reminds me a lot of Seattle, but smaller.
