Guilin aka: 桂林

quiet majestic beauty. while sailing along the river you realize that this is where all of those stereotypical chinese scenic paintings were inspired from.

Very beautiful city & scenery. The 7 Stars park was worth a visit: a caution tho’, we were swamped by people wanting to take our picture, I think mainly tourists from other parts of China – they were all very nice, it was back in ‘02 so I guess they were not used to foreign visitors at the time & seemed to find my height (5’11) funny, I was made to stand on lower steps so they could be the same height as me.

The limestone mountains are quite beautiful and there is lots of great art there. I brought a watercolour of the area home & it always makes me smile.

Beautiful place. I went to school here.

If you’re an artist this is the place to visit. Picturesque images along the river harkens images of chinese landscape scrolls and even represented on the back of one of their currency.

I lived here in 1999 and 2001-2002. Great place, people, FOOD!! Don’t leave without trying Guilin Mifen. I’m still suffering from withdrawals.
Also, if you can find it, go to the Cow’s Tail dance club and Bar Inconsequential. My good friend from way back runs them both and it’s always a party!

i live in in Guilin and have been for almost 2 years. i’m 15 and i’m from america. Guilin is very beautiful and very clean, cleaner then most cities in China.

Definitely take the ship down the Li River, the mountainscape on the two sides is beautiful.

The right place u’ll never be tired of.
