Guilin aka: 桂林

Yanghshuo, overrun and touristy as it is, left a much better impression on us than this desperate-seeming gateway to the Li River.

The scenery looks incredible – I’ve heard the landscape described as “egg box mountains”.

was with my lover Robert, and it was our first big journey. It was fantastic.
Guilin is special because of the river and the hundreds of mountains in its riverside.

I visited Guilin for about 3 days during my 2 week stay in China. We drove around by car and took boat tours which were a nice refreshing change to Guangzhou. I was in awe with the surroundings. My mom told me that this place was a favored environment for filming. Ah we also went to the Feng Yuan cave. Picture is from the boat tour.

We also had a 18.5 cent (American money) breakfast, and the food was STILL good!

If you see ground hog (or something similar) on the menu have a taste, you may find that you like dog. Also i went on a trip down the river on a rather old boat, they served us some rather exotic food, if you are slightyly squimish or don’t like snake from a jar, take some sarnies :) definately worth going tho, its beautiful but only for a couple of days, how long can you look at a river for???

as our local guide put it:
“Come to Beijing for the history. Come to Shanghai for modernity and commerce. Come to Guangzhou for the food. Come to Guilin to find beauty in nature.”

Guilin seems to exist in its own time frame. A little wistful, a little nostalgic—one of those places you would have just as much fun travelling through with friends or alone. (although logistically, without linguistic skills that might be taxing)
The best meal we had was at this little restaurant on a walk through the cultural village on cherry blossom island.

it was all guided tours, though, so not much for hikers, at least not the tours we did of caves and cultural landmarks.

I was born here. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. I miss it constantly, and try to visit frequently. The food is great, the region is very scenic.. I LOVE IT!

Yulong River in Yangshuo is worth a visit! Clear water, attractive scene riverside and leisure of floating.

小学的时候去的桂林,那里和北方的气候景色完全不同.
山清水秀的_{~ 真想在去一次}!!
