York

Twenty years ago on a trip to southwest England, I met two older ladies from York who made me promise I would go there one day. I suppose after twenty years, it’s time to plan on keeping my promise.

...and I really liked it! Okay, so I only had a day and a half there, so didn’t get to do all of the things I’d have liked, but still, I had a great time. York was really charming, despite the crowds and heat. York Castle Museum was probably the best I’ve been to in a long time, and well worth the £6 or so to get in. The Minster was completely amazing- you really need to see it to understand. Some of the buildings in the main shopping areas are great- it was strange to see a higgeldy piggeldy Tudor building with a Boots on the ground floor! I don’t mind admitting I was a complete tourist while I was there- I even went on a Ghost Tour! I think when I’m back in Birmingham tomorrow, it will seem boring in comparison with York! Can’t wait to go back…

A new exciting hostel (other than YHA & YMCA) experience. Funny and interesting people.

A relaxing morning walk along the river and at last I got lost again… It did happen all the time in the trip but it was fun!

Love the architecture style there, love the blue and british look of Starbucks there.

Im in York every week. This place is gr8. All Yorkshire is gorgeous. Nice place for car or bike travel.

Walk the walls, great experience

I am happy to report that I worked in York for over 10 years. The walk to Coney Street, Feasgate or Spurriergate was always enjoyable whatever the weather, passing the city walls and crossing the river admiring the Minster. It is a special place.

Would like to go, go on a boat trip, visit town, shop, go for a nice meal. Sam is trying to book a B&B now, let’s hope we find something so last-minute

...As i’m not very good with computers i don’t really understand how to mark this as my hometown…but well..There we go! lol …But yeah, if you have any questions about York please do ask Fifi!(Me)...I have lived here all of my life, went to school at the Minster School (the building opposite the infamous York Minster) and now to to St.Peter’s! (...the oldest school in europe: it was founded in 627AD lol)...

I’d go to York every weekend if I could. First time I saw it, fell in love with it. Forget the tourists and all, this place has atmosphere and breathes pure history.
