Birmingham

UAB and Five Points is really nice. I think the area just around and south of Vulcan is great. Farther south is Hoover, a really nice area. I flew over the city in a helicopter at only a couple hundred feet. You can request a VFR overflight of the downtown from Birmingham Tower since KBHM is Class Charlie Airspace. On the ground however, most of the rest of the town (like the other 80% besides what is mentioned) is like a third-world country. Just one giant ghetto. Go to 5 points.

I recommend this place because, after it’s troubling past, it has made something of itself. If you’re ever looking for a city that has done it’s absolute best to try and rebirth itself and change it’s ways, Birmingham is it. It’s pact full of history and I’ve never had a shortage of things to do, it’s amazing.

I live in North Alabama, so, I can’t make it down very often, but, when I do, I’m always anxious to get there and enjoy myself. Eventually, I do plan to live there.

My college football team had a bowl game in Birmingham. The bars dont close…(they obviously dont know ECU fans). ECU fans beat the crap out of some USF fans and got put on the patty wagon. THey shut the bar down for the entire night. That was the most excitement Birmingham has seen in decades. UAB students cannot be cool.

It’s still one of my favorite places in the world. I’m happy to give suggestions to anyone planning on visiting!

made out, drank in the hills in the cold, saw reggie and the full effect, left reggie and the full effect to drink whiskey and listen to elliot smith, stopped off for three hours in the middle of a greyhound bus trip for drinks, destroyed a living room. birmingham is by far way mo’ betta than mobile.

I went to college about 45 minutes south of Downtown. I worked in the city during a summer at school. I know my way around pretty well.

If I’d never lived in Shelby Co., if I’d never gone to college there, I would have never met Amber…or Bryan…or Eric…or Whitney…or….

If I’d never lived here, I wouldn’t have had the experiences that have shaped me into the person I am now.

I miss it. I moved across the country about 7 months ago, and I cannot tell you how bittersweet it is. I love it here, I love the people and the sense of community. But I miss being able to hop in the car and take a short drive to Five Points to go…I dunno…get a tattoo, or eat at Al’s, or catch a show.

I guess you really don’t know what you got til it’s gone.
