Santiago De Compostela aka: Santiago de Compostella

I love Santiago.
A beautiful, vibrant, young feeling city. We stayed for almost a week, and never stopped enjoying ourselves. After finishing the camino, we were standing outside the (amazing) cathedral, and some lady approached us with an offer for housing. We talked her down to $15 a night (for a private double bedroom/bathroom) and got to stay right en el centro! Moral of the story is those kind of people aren’t always out to rip you out. she even gave us a business card!

Easily one of the best places I’ve ever been to! The atmosphere of the place is amazing. The cathedral is, of course, extraordinary. I love the little pubs with traditional Galician live music! The food! The weather! I would love to go back!

Santiago de Compostela is one of the most beautiful places I´ve ever been to. I´ve been there on the exchange program and can´t wait to go back! I didn’t mind the rain one bit, I think it actually added to its charm. After all, Santiago is not Santiago without all that rain. Otherwhise, how would you get oranges and camelias growing in February?! It’s amazing!!!! :) I think I’m love lol! :):)

well every thing here in barcelona is very buitifull

After studying so much medieval history, I’d like to actually make the walking trip to here like many pilgrims during the old times. Many people today make the trip as a chance to reflect on life. Youths today do not have any passage rituals, it’s really too bad.

it’s one of the three things I would really like to visit when I am in Spain next time.

My friend Mariluz went to do the pilgrimage at Santiago de Compostela several years ago and came back absolutely transformed. Her husband had died a few years prior to that and she had been walking around half-dead herself. The light had really gone out of her life, and she felt no hope, just a terrible emptiness. The kids grew and left the house and she was all alone. She went to the pilgrimage, and the person who came back was full of life, hope, spirituality, happiness. I have read accounts of other people who have been transformed like this as well, but to actually see it happening was incredible.

I went there last autum to visit my friend and her family. Such a wonderful place! I took my chances to visit the rest of the garlician region and went to Porto for a day tour too.

I lived here for a month last summer, and I absolutely love this town. It’s a well hidden secret in Spain. The food alone is worth the visit. This place is so serene, peaceful, beautiful, fabulous. My next goal is to live here for a year.
