Jerez de la Frontera

I didn´t get to see half the things on offer..
The flamenco i saw was average, tailored for the tourist..
Had some beautiful tapas, nearby beaches are fantastic..
Bodegas are interesting the first time, Tio Pepe the best of the few i saw; though the highlight was seeing Picasso´s signature..
Would have loved to see the artistic equestrians at work, but hey.. can´t have it all..

This is the place to go if you like Sherry or Brandy. Lots of Bodegas are open for clients to try and buy.

...of the town that host both Formula 1 and Moto GP races. Unfortunately I’ve only made it through the air port, on my way to Cadiz.

Bodega tours are overpriced and not really worth it unless you’re really into sherry. The equestrain school has a nice show and nice museums though. Go for the “theatrical visit”—it’s cheapter than the regular performance, and you get to watch a dress rehearsal and have a guided tour and be admitted to all the museums. You can even pet the horses!

I must say one of my best holidays ever. I went to the Feria de Jerez, had tons of fun. Nice people. I love sherry and flamenco.

Despite the incredible downpour, the traffic snarl near the national motorcycle grand prix, and the closure of half the city businesses or more because it was Sunday, I’m glad we went. Food and beverage rule our lives, and so we took advantage of staying in Ronda to drive over and get a tour of the Gonzalez-Byass bodega. And to have kidneys cooked in sherry. And have hevanely bacon (tocino del cielo) for dessert….
