Worth visiting!
I spent five months studying abroad in Granada (January to May 2008) and it was absolutely incredible. As other people on this site have said, of course there’s the Alhambra which is amazing, but one of my favorite things to do was just wander through the sidestreets discovering new shops and tapas bars and teterias. My roommate and I would often stop at Tiggiani’s across from Plaza Nueva and each get an ice cream cone (they had the most amazing ice cream displays I’ve ever seen) and then wander up past Plaza Nueva along el Rio Darro to where we could see a lovely view of the Alhambra. Sometimes we’d get lost in the Albaicin, but then we always knew how to get back to an area we knew- just go down! As you can see, I can get carried away talking about Granada, because it feels like a second home to me. It’s an absolutely beautiful city, so if you have the chance, definitely go!

Flamenco, Alhambra, stay in the Parador, eat in the plaza/courtyard under the clock w/ the bird’s nest on it, flamenco y flamenco..a very magical place—it’s real & like you’re just dropping into something that’s been going on a long time, and it’s still going to keep going long after you’re gone and dropping into another place…

comment on my blog: “I miss Granada. The music scene there was unbelievable. It was a few years ago so I can’t give you specifics but I remember a kind of lookout point near a fountain at the top of a big hill where you could see La Alhambra dead on and these old and young guys used to come play flamenco every night, practically. They’d just sit on the wall, strum their guitars, and belt out the rawest and realest music I’ve ever heard.”
