Pisa

… too close to the tower! Ha-ha!

If you must go then make it a quick day trip from Florence. Italy has a lot better to offer.

Pisa is a dirty little town that I wouldn’t even bother staying a night in. The leaning tower and surround buildings are breathtaking and definitely worth seeing though. If you are staying in Florence, I would recommend making a day trip to Lucca (1 hour train from Florence) then going to Pisa (30 mins train ride south from Lucca). After that, you can take a train directly back to Florence (1hr 15mins by train).

Don’t plan too much time here— there’s really only the duomo and the tower.

A great quick side trip if you are staying in Firenze (Florence) for a few days. Only takes a few hours in total to see the infamour tower.

We only visited Pisa for a few hours… long enough to see the famous “Leaning Tower” and have a nice al fresco lunch.

FAR too touristy. Not worth it at all.

I was young enough that the gimic value was totally worth it, even though my parents wouldn’t take us to the top because of the long queues, hot weather, and lack of safety precautions.

My sister bought a cheesy statuette of it with some kind of glittery stuff on it that changed colour with different weather (I think more humidity than temperature), but lost its effect after being exposed to too much weather (being left out in the rain etc.). That thing was so exciting!!!

The town is dull but do you go just for the tower? Yes.
