I was spending 3 days here in Heidelberg, and walking from the Hauptbahnhof, I found a hotel right to the right side. Walking in, I check in like normal, get my things taken care of in my room and begin my venture out onto the town. Since the train station is so close to the market square (you can make it there in about 15 minutes walking slowly), I decided to walk down there and of course I was very impressed. Later on that night I was tired so I went back to the hotel and decided to have a beer in the bar of the hotel. After some time two really drunk German dudes come down and also have an order of Warsteiner, I think. Eventually we get to talking somewhat since my German isn’t super, and neither were their English. They asked me to come up to their room saying “Mit kommen.” So, thinking that was a little weird, I followed them hesitantly. When we got back to their room, there were 4 rooms full of guys getting absolutely blitzed! They thought it was awesome that some American guy was with them. We proceeded to go out that night, but I don’t quite remember the specifics as the night went on… hahaha. The next day, I couldn’t wake up until 5 pm because I was so hung over. But after a cold shower and something to eat, we were back drinking again… My God, I think that was the best weekend ever.
Moral of the story is: Go out and see some things, talk to people and pull up a stool at the local pub. You will never know what might happen next! And that, my friends, is what life is about!
