Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

My favorite place to eat in Düsseldorf is CURRY, at Hammerstrasse 2 – across the street from Der Neue Zollhof, the Frank Gehry buildings next to the harbor. It is about a 15-20 minute walk down the Rhine from Altstadt. The menu is pretty much limited to currywurst, bratwurst, and pommes, with a few other sides and desserts available. I’d describe currywurst as a sausage with curry ketchup on it. The pommes are hand cut – you’ll frequently see the waiters bringing in crates of fresh potatoes. Other sauces are available – they’ll even serve you a platter with 4 different sauces. Decent bottled beer selection. Friendly wait staff. When visiting friends in Düsseldorf, we always begin our walk along the Rhine with a trip to CURRY. The food is pretty inexpensive, and tastes great.

I lived near Dusseldorf in a place called Dormagen for about 18 months in 1994/1995 while I was working as a nanny. Best time of my life :-)

A tip I have about this place

Düsseldorf is my home city. I grew up and spent most of my life there. If you happen to visit the city in spring or summer, go to the old part of the city (the ‘Altstadt’) in the evening, have dinner or coffee in one of the cafés right on the river bank, and watch the sunset from there. It’s magnificent and I get homesick whenever I think of it. :-)
