Worth visiting!
Nice city trip
For my 22nd birthday my boyfriend and I went to Bordeaux. It took us 6 hours of TGV (from Brussels) but it was worth it. The weekend was great. First of, it was 25°C in late March! Although we had a tourist guide, we just wandered around in the old city, narrow lanes and huge cathedrals. Strolling on the banks of the muddy Garonne. Also pretty parks, designer shops and the longest car-free shopping street in Europe (rue Saint Catherine). We also visited the ‘Croiseur Colbert’, which is an old French war ship that is stationed in Bordeaux and functions as a museum. No tourists at all. The city was recently modernised, so it has a clean look. There are also very futuristic trams. Nightlife: we visited a great Jazz bar (le Port de la Lune) and of course the food was great and quite cheap. Most people do the vinyard tours, but the city itself is very nice for a city trip in spring.
