Sydney is incredible, but expensive. If you’re considering staying here for an extended period of time, i would definitely recommend a job. It’s especially hard to save because there are so many fantastic people and so much to do. Going out here was tops and the Sydney Botannical Gardens are gorgeous. It’s pretty easy to get around and there are lots of cool little areas like Newtown and Surrey Hills. The Beaches are amongst the best along the east coast and definitely tons of fun. Also, if you’re a backpacker, King’s Cross is definitely where it’s at. i stayed in Woolloomooloo which ended up being perfect because it is inbetween the city centre- a close enough walk to circular quay- and King’s Cross which is amazing for going out at night. However, this location suited spending all my money very well. Had to leave to make some money, but came back ni the end- you just can’t stay away.

I got an email this morning from Travelzoo, saying that Qantas was offering a $380 roundtrip fare from LAX, which included most of the taxes. I got on there, and I found a ticket for $515, including all taxes, fees, etc…. ROUND TRIP! I’m using my United miles to get from DFW to LAX… So, I’m going in November!! My United trip only costs me $5… so I’m flying from home to Sydney for $520!! I am so excited, I must start planning now! I’m hoping to maybe visit Melbourne AND Sydney… but we’ll see!
Australia, wow!

Understand Down Under’s “Dharawal Discovery” day tour was a fantastic tour, I’d do again. It’s a 1 day tour down the south coast (about an hr from the Sydney CBD), into the Royal National Park.
The tour was excellent – beautiful and varied scenery, I had a lot of fun, learnt tons about the nature and history, plus the food and other little goodies and surprises were great. It was amazing to feel so off the beaten track so close to Sydney, I feel very lucky to have seen the Royal National Park, the little secret no-one else seems to know about!

My sister lives here. We were not close the first 20 years of her life, but in the last few years thanks to the wonder of myspace, we chat regularly and are becoming friends. I tell her about my life and she tells me about hers. I would love to surprise her one day by telling her I have a ticket to Australia to visit. I only recently discovered how important family is and would like to show her how much she means to me.
