Dover

I plan on visiting Dover in October. I am a amateur nature photographer and would love to know about places to visit nearby.

Any advice would be welcome.

My Dover Picture Gallery. It’s small… just like Delaware.

Living there as a young child, I can say this place is just a dull place to visit. Sure, driving by the air force base is a cheap thrill, but having family who worked there isn’t.

We were delivering postage stamps to a secret drop site, because if anyone knew we had over a million dollar’s worth of stamps to distribute, we might have been hijacked. It was just a short trip from Maryland, but I felt real “secret agent” about the load!

While Dover itself is a sleepy little state capital, the town can boast of a year round indoor/outdoor flea market
called Spence’s Bazaar which is open on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Since the town is virtually hipster free there is little
competition for the good stuff and the prices remain refreshingly low.

but although I lived in Delaware (Wilmington) for 17 years of my life, I can say that Dover is definitely not worth seeing. It’s one of those places your wish you can say you just drove through. As mentioned there is an air force base which kids in Delaware schools take field trips to (yes I know it’s lame, but what can you do) and although Dover is the capital of Delaware I wish Wilmington was the capital. It seems like one of the only places in DE where something is going on and it’s so close to Philly like a 20-30 min drive as opposed to 2 hours from Dover. I’m sorry to bad mouth the capital of my home state but Dover is just not fun times.

There’s nothing going on in Dover unless you want to run for Senate or something ‘cause I think it might be possible to meet all your constituents face to face.

eh…my uncle lives there, thats the only reason I’ve ever been…and its not all that exciting. just a regular town.
