Akureyri

It’s one of the few places in Iceland where you’ll see trees!

Lovely mild climate – you wouldn’t think you were only 60 miles from the Arctic Circle.

Wonderful place. On a clear day, you can see why they call it the “Alps of Iceland.”

It’s quiet, neat, and great-looking. Also, apparently safe, since kids will just decide to follow you. And finally, here’s the pictures I took while I was there.

In 2000 I drove through here on Hwy 1, but didn’t spend any time in the city. This June/July I’ll spend some time there – and am going to try and be up there for the longest day, June 21st.
