The last time I went to this place

I got stung by a bee in my neck while walking in the market. The people were boisterous and unfriendly, but it is a beatiful city.

Oh Istanbul!

Why you are so beautiful? Do you know that you make me cry some nights..? I’m dreaming of you! I’m addicted to you… You are without any doubt the most beautiful city in the whole world… A city where east&west, asia&europe meets… A city where EVERYTHING exists… I want you to be my home! Take me!

I want to study the university in Istanbul at Bosphorus University:( And I’ll do everything possible…

Istanbul! I’m coming you as soon as I can again…

Turkish Delight on a Moonlight Night

I did a week in Turkey in the Summer of 1998 and went all over. The history is as deep as images or Ataturk are common. Highlights: the market, the bridge between the continents, Mohammed momentos in Sancta Sofia (It’s been too long to remember whether it was there or the Rose Mosque or even how to spell it), amazing tile work, architecture, gorgeous men with olive skin and green or blue eyes, women in shorts (while in the countryside they are much more concervative and cover up), the World Cup & sports bars, apple tea, Tea&SugarDreams, beautiful & full of color.
Note: while we drank the water everywhere else in Turkey with no problem, they strongly cautioned against it in Istanbul back then, because of the aresenic levels.

Why I want to go to this place

Because it is a huge city and has an Oriental and an European part and because I have a place to stay and friends who will share my holiday experience in Istanbul. Can´t wait to be there. Tonight I will take off, tomorrow I will be there.

The first time I went to this place

5 days walking, talking, smelling the sweet aromas of musk, cherry and apple teas, I found myself almost hypnotised by a city I had no pre-conceived ideas about. Istanbul is for lovers, adventurers, familiıes, party-goers, discerning travellers and backpackers. There’s something for everyone!
Recommend a Bosphorous Cruise – take the city government boat as opposed to the smaller private operators. Its cheaper and better. Also do the spice market and dont miss the blue mosque (inside and out). And for the art lover, a quick tram ride across the water takes you to the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art – dont miss ıt!
Istanbul will definitely be revisited.

A review of this place: listen to the Adhan/call to prayer near Blue Mosque/Hagia Sophia

It’s not unusual that we go to different countries/cities looking for something exotic to a certain level. But all too often we end up seeing similar things and start to get confused as to where we are.

We felt the same way when we arrived in this city, until we heard the Adhan echo from every corner of the city. Only then does this bustling city quiet down a bit and it makes an unforgettable experience appreciating the beauty of Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque with the adhan. And my impression is that they have the best muezzin (prayer-caller) here.
