Toledo

Toledo is so awe-inspiring, really! I enjoyed my stay there so much! There’s so much to see, for example the ‘Catedral de Toledo’ or the ‘Mezquita del Cristo de la Luz’ which is a beautiful mosque. It’s definitely worth visiting!

I love Toledo.. its simply a living musuem.. the preserved walled city with many old buildings dates back 1000 years ago. Love the jewelry here as well

I had never been to such an old city before or a cathedral, it was absolutely magical. Next time I’m in Spain I will make it a point to at least spend a full day here if not a couple.

I’ve just been in Toledo for the first time, from Sunday to Tuesday. I’ve wanted to go for years, since I first saw El Greco’s painting of it, it captured my imagination

It reminds me of other places. With the pretty old buildings, bridges and river it reminds me of Durham. The thin twisting streets remind me of Jerusalem (and yes, I got lost in both). The swallows (or are they swifts or housemartins?) circling around the city and especially the cathedral each evening remind me of Krakow.

It’s a wonderful city.

La última vez que estuve me quedé con ganas de visitar la catedral, pues no tenía tiempo. Eso sí, visité la sinagoga del Tránsito y me pareció genial. Toledo es una ciudad estupenda para ver la mezcla de culturas en España.

This was the first city we visited while in Spain. It was a charming city and well worth the visit.

...it was a day-trip by bus from Madrid. Not a long bus ride and well worth the hour, or so journey.
Aside from it being extremely impressive from an architectural and historical perspective, it’s even more impressive from a loose-yourself-in-the-past-can’t-believe-people-actually-live-here perspective. The town is one gigantic maze ‘o art!
The only knock I would offer is that it is so close to Madrid, thus easy to get to, thus loaded with tourists. I’ve nothing against tourists, per say (I’m one everywhere except the USA), however, many do make it difficult to navigate and completely loose yourself. I would suggest Segovia above Toledo in a heartbeat, but if you can go to both, do so.

Beautiful city – easy day trip from Madrid – either by train or by bus – awesome Marzipan!!
