A tip I have about this place
Checkpoint is nothing special (A little R&B club that plays the same songs again and again)
Promenade des Anglais is cool
Bar Thor is NOT cheap!

...to me, Nice just has the dirt of Marseille with none of its character as well as the pretentiousness of many of the Cote d’Azur resorts. Apart from the Musee Matisse, my only really nice memory of Nice is sitting on a bench on the promenade at dusk.

I went to Nice, France for my fifteenth birthday (12/28/1999) and spent an entire week in culture shock. Everyone said that the French HATE Americans, but everyone in Nice was actually very hospitable and didn’t seem to even notice that I was foreign. My cousin and her husband had been living there for about a year and I stayed with them. We visited the Pope’s Palace and the “French Riviera”. They took me to the little old villages and shops, as well as the seaside walls of the city. It was beautiful and peaceful.
Unlike the States, Europe doesn’t Live To Work & Work To Live – they relax, breathe, and enjoy life.
I’m definitely going back one day. It was a refreshing change to the hectic life back here in the States.

the rendez-vous city where hopefully four people coming from entirely different departures citys around the world will find each other for a spot of hiking and general sillyness. this is also the place that we hop on the train to cinque terre for some wine and hiking, so excited

I slept on the beaches and busked on the main ramparts of nice for a time. My heart was full and my love was ripe while wandering the streets of this beautiful hillside civilization. The people I found were generous and romantic, recognizing the fraternal bond in the human experience and indulging in it’s tides of beaut, empathy, and observance of the mystery of human culture. Though I must admitt some did come across as being clueless and lost in the sea of modern man as any locale would have. I find seaside cities to be some of the most wonderous locations to frequent while seeking escape among the multitudes and solice in the storm.

i spent 7 nights in Nice and I had the best time!! I did day trips every day to a different city and then had the afternoons and evenings in Nice to explore. If someone is wondering about a good hostel there, Chez Patrick is close to everything you would need, its cheap and very clean. If I return to Nice (hopefully soon) I will stay there again

I saw something I never expected, a long line of Hookers on the main beach boulevard! It was all out in the open and nobody was too worried about it either.

The beach had pebbles which is rather hard on the feet and when sitting down. I prefer a sandy beach any day!
The town of Nice is gorgegous though! :D

I really would love to see the beaches of Nice and look at all the architecture. I have seen pictures of some of the old buildings in Nice and I must say, they are amazing! I love the pastel colours and the gorgeous designs. Plus, it wouldn’t hurt to go to the Cannes film festival! I think I’ll go to Nice in a year or so. Hopefully I’ll be able to soak up some of the sun -.
