Brasília aka: Brasilia

I have relatives there, so it was good because I didn’t need to stay in a hotel and I had a personal tourist guide, my uncle. But he couldn’t be with me all the time. Sometimes he just left me at the places and I explored the city walking most of the time. This walking experience was great, as I could go anywhere I wanted. But, as it is said, Brasilia isn’t made for walkers, it was made for cars. The streets and avenues are so large and most of them don’t even have a traffic light.

Apart from that I could enjoy Oscar Niemeyer’s architecture and other beautiful modernist buildings. I took more tham 500 pictures and I put the best ones on my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/uaba/sets/72157607453213578/

I do recommend people to go to Brasilia if they are interested in architecture.

The architecture and the view of this city are simply AMAZING!

Was in November 2005 for a conference. I speak zero Portugese, so I was very fortunate to be at the conference with my colleagues from Sao Paulo.

The city itself is as it was described; a very planned city. I can’t say that it was a spectacular city – it was quite like many capitol cities. Architecture was a mix of authoritarian government-style buildings lining the boulevard in the government sector and fairly modern structures in the commercial areas.

I’d go back to hopefully see more of the city and areas where people actually live.

Eu já morei em Brasília por 10 anos e gosto muito da cidade. Eu recomendo para quem ainda não conhece.

ps: evite a época da seca (fevereiro-setembro). principalmente se tiver problemas de respiração e de pele.

Eu gosto de Brasília. É uma cidade produzida, já planejada para um hall de habitantes. O padrão de vida é muito alto, também. Pra quem vive no plano piloto (e park way), vixi…. LKHSDFSDAHFÇLS
