Guatemala City

It is difficult to say whether or not Guatemala City is worth visiting. Most people would say that you go to the city because you have to since that is where the airport is. But in order to understand the country, you need to see it’s capital. My favorite part about Guatemala City was the central market, and the liquados that are sold down in the basement. There was also a little food stand named after a woman, who’s name I know have forgotten. But she has the BEST FOOD EVER!!! Also, it was wonderful to have gone there with my grandmother who used to own a store in the city and she was once quite the shrewd business woman. She was an incredible tour guide and even brought me to the same thread/sewing store run by a chinese family that she has gone to since she was a child, the sandwich shop that my father would always spend his allowance on, and the beautiful cemetary where many of my family are buried. So, maybe the capital city is only interesting for people who have stories connected to it.

Seemed cramped, crowded, busy, and not tourist friendly. Nice airport, though.
