Riyadh

A huge family-oriented city, where citizens think a 400 KM ride is a short stop! Plenty of malls and light entertainment. Everybody is just friendly, but very VERY reserved and conservative.
Try out a mandi dish (meat or chicken with rice cooked underground and has that crazy good flavor, and is very fulfilling)
Petrol is dirt cheap, and so as many clothing items, even when compared to Dubai! Lingerie shops are more than men’s and most malls entertain families only, especially in the weekends.
A place worth visiting, go in a small group but prepare for a real culture shock.. so learn well about the place before you visit. enjoy.

Warning: Do not attempt to drive in Riyadh, Do not even sit in the front passenger seat!

this country is a wonderful

Even though this is the only country I have ever visited and been shot at, I still loved the place.

This was my first real experience with a different country and nationality of poeple. Riyadh was a very interesting place to visit. The architecture was breathtaking.

Driving here is very hazardous though and I would definitely recommend taking taxi’s as oppossed to driving yourself.

If you like deserts then this is a good place, each feb, there is a camel race, worth to see.

Because of the warm weather , and the great people who live there, and the fair Islamic religion, i think everybody should visit Riyadh, theres alot of historical places that belongs to people lived there before 2000 years ago or even more , “mdaen saleh” one of the old places there, there’s a lot of parks,fancy resturants, business and banks , although theres gold and jewerly but its really cheap, so i think you got to go to Riyadh to discover and im sure ur gonna be pleasured.

I am sorry for all you Arabs out there, or actually Saudi’s in specific and not all Arabs, but especially for a woman to go to Riyadh is like committing suicide unless you are the kind of person who loves to live in a golden cage, coz that’s what it is. a pretty city [btw, built by Americans] where you can do nothing! I’ve lived there 3 years and although I am the type of person who learns from the worst experiences tossed my way, I don’t recommend that you go there…

I was stationed in Riyad (Riyadh AB and Eskan Village) during Desert Storm. I spent ~5 months there. I actually had a great time.

this is a nice country and very cheap kind of jewelries (gold) and very cheap price of gas..hahaha. because of my good old man, me and my family sometimes go and take vacation here.

my boyfriend is working there now. sigh. ok ok. its only for 3 mths…but we’ve never been really apart. so, i soo want to go there!

I went to Riyadh several times for work. The first time was hard, it was quite a culture shock. But after a few visits, I started really enjoying the place. It is difficult to adapt over there for a westerner but if you are willing to learn about the local culture, it can be a great experience. My best memories? The food, Masmak Fortress, the desert.
