I envision Bratislava being old Europe – similar to Prague but more authentic now that Prague is becoming more touristy.
It’s such a unique place since it is the only capital in the world that borders two other countries – and it’s right on the river.
It has a funny name and I am sure with that comes charm. If only I had known how close we were when we went to Vienna. Oh well – it’s only a 5 hour drive away.

Great city to walk around in, nice signs marking everything and always a place to stop in for coffee or a beer!

We spent a weekend in Bratislava. Day 1 was spent exploring Bratislava and Day 2 we had a day trip to Vienna.
Bratislava is well worth a visit. It has a beautiful old town, it is very close to Vienna (60km) and it was very cheap (60p for a Beer!)
two thumbs up!

most of the people don’t find it worth visiting but i think it’s a great city. it’s not very big,you can walk through the old town in half an hour. but it’s really cute, beer is cheap, circus barok is great:) and the girls are fantastic! everyone should stop by the slovak pub.
i heard that the cheapest hostel is the one right in front of the mlada garda tram station but it’s not a very nice place if you are sensitive about the place you’ll stay.

First Slovak Pub is a brilliant restaurant – you can get completely fed for a couple of dollars including an 11% beer . Fantastic proper hearty Slovakian food, such as Shepherd’s Bag “spicy pork mixture in a potato pancake”, and an hilarious menu with “Meal for student before payday”, “Meal for student on pay day” and “Meal for student who wants to disport himself to his girlfriend”.

I think a lot of people pass up Bratislava because they don’t really think it’s worth a visit, but it definitely is. Aside from the beauty of the old town, Bratislava is notoriously cheap. Even if you’re on a tight budget, you can live like royalty for a day or two.
