Unlike Las Vegas, a place I also love, New Orleans is not manufactured, it evolved from the mud and people, making for the most exotic place I have been to in the US.

Look, I lived there for 47 years and I’ll never be entirely free of the place. Great place to visit, but it will kill you to live there.
That said, here’s my four rules for visiting New Orleans:
1. You don’t have to drink it all the first day; there weill be plenty tomorrow.
2. Not all of the beautiful women on Bourbon St. are either.
3. Do everything the nice policeman tells you to do.
4. If it looks dangerous, it is.
Have fun, don’t get too stupid, and go home alive.

Very little planned Mardi Gras trip with few friends. Good place to let the “steam out”, especially if you come from good old Texas. Not too many rules here, underage drinking, lots of naked people (even tho it was freezing). All in all two thumbs yp to NOLA

Recovery and rebuilding continue but at a slow pace. New Orleans will not be the same – ever again. The tourist attractions are back so it is good for a few days of partying.

I used to live here and I loved Mardi Gras. And I love Southern cooking.
