I live in Connecticut. When I was young I hated it, but now that I am married and settling in I am realizing that it’s a great place to live and raise children! There isn’t tons to do here but we are very close to New York City and Boston so we like to travel out on the weekends and find stuff to keep busy! All in all Connecticut isn’t as bad as a lot of people say it is♥

Peaceful place for reflection, communion with nature, storm watching and even a little bird watching.

Connecticut is where I was fortunate enough to spend nine months in ‘89-90 doing the second year of my psychology degree at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.
I met some great people – Costas, Keith, Katie, Isabelle, Rosalba, Mark, Dan, Jim, Nicola, Gerald, to name but a few – and enjoyed more than my fair share of beer and free pizza at Elmers’ bar and the best calzones in the world at Pizzaworld.
I trained with the soccer team under Shaun Green (I was number 26 out of 25!) and got truly fit for the first time in my life.
I climbed Long’s Peak in the Rockies with Mark, Keith and Mike, nearly died up there in a blizzard then learned to ski when we got down.
Spent Spring Break in Key West and Key Largo and took road trips to New Orleans and Los Angeles seeing the really awesome Grand Canyon along the way.
Finished up with next to no money other than for a flight home and had to survive a week roaming the streets of San Francisco!
I discovered for myself just what a big place the US is. For all it’s faults as nation state – insularity, paranoia, fundamentalism – the people are just like people everywhere. I learned to appreciate what I left behind at home and to better understand what I found.

The part I was in was very, very nice and upscale (pretty expensive, I think). The landscape was beautiful and I had a very nice experience at some of the local restaurants. I mean, c’mon, the Mexican restaurant had a Buddha with a sombrero! How cool is that? I don’t remember much location-wise, I just know I would go back and repeat those two weeks again. Fo sho.

This is how one gets to MA and RI from NJ. There’s hardly any other practical way.

I was born in Connecticut, but have very few memories of living there. I would love to go back to my birthplace soon and see whatever there is to see. Because how can you be proud of the place you came from if you don’t even remember it?
