Okinawa aka: 沖縄

i used to live in okinawa during high school. i was so happy i had the chance to live there! it is beautiful and okinawan people are so nice. i’ve lived in tokyo and okinawa for many years and i must say, okinawan people are so nice and really sincere. they are so different from mainland japanese. i definitely would say go visit okinawa and mainland japan, especially hokkaido!

I lived there for 4 years, and I loved it. I recommend not only the beaches but also Expo Park, Southeast Botanical Gardens, and any place where you can learn about the culture…

I lived there for 4 years and had my youngest son there. My husband had us stationed there and it was the best experience I have had in along time. Right now I live in North Carolina and it lacks in culture but makes up in charm.

Okinawa. I suppose among many things we remember from our childhood are the names of different places. I remember Okinawa. It made me smile to see it here, on 43places. It made me glad to see it on my tiny list of dream-travels.

i grew up here and my mom is okinawan. i miss it!!!! definately worth visiting if you love the beach and asian culture.

I first went here in 2001, and left in 2004. My dad is a Marine and was stationed there. Thw island is absolutely breathtaking with its beauty.

I was 18 and I spent 3 years in this place. I loved every minute I spent there. I dont have any pics scanned, but I do have lots and lots of pics taken there. I loved driving from the South to the North of the Island and visiting all the various musuems and historic castles. The nightlife? hmmmm i was the king of the nightlife! ;-) Jes kiddin, but I really liked this place and I really learned a lot, I grew up a lot, around the friendly people of Okinawa. I hope to visit again.
