We traveled to Sichuan for the express purpose of eating Sichuan food. (We were living in Shanghai at the time.) It sounds precious and colonial to say it, but honest to god, there is nothing like eating Sichuan food in Sichuan. Nothing.

I love spicy food and traveling. I’ve heard good things about the hotpot here as well as the sightseeing opportunies.

The natural spring waters, the panda reserve, it’s all worth it.

One of the most fascinating of China’s provinces. Capital Chengdu, home to over 11 million people. The Wolong Panda reserve, Wenshu temple, Wuhou temple, Jin Li street and Sichuan opera are some of the more interesting attractions. Sichuan food is world renowned and known for its heavy use of chillis and more chillis. Don’t miss a Sichuan hot pot when ur there !!

Just to think, I could get some real ma po dofu or gongbao jiding! Damn the USDA and their damn laws, huajiao is necessary for real Sichuan cuisine.

UPDATE! I bought a Zanthoxylum simulans (sichuan pepper (US) or Huājiāo (mandarin)) plant from a local nursery. I should be able to grow my own here soon!

But haven’t got chance to get full experience.
