Would love to go back here

I only had two days here, so I just visited Mont St Michel and some of the beaches and graveyards, but there were so many other places I wanted to see. This is a great region to drive around – the countryside is beautiful and it’s definitely easier to see everything you want to see if you have your own transport.

A review of this place

Absolutely beautiful area in France. Mont Saint Michel was spectacular and touring the major battlegrounds of D-Day was sobering to say the least. The people were great – very friendly. Highly recommended.

Juno Beach Centre

Visited the Juno Beach Centre which is a memorial to the Canadians who fought in WWII and especially to those who landed on the beach on D Day 1944. We also went to the nearby Canadian Military Cemetary at Benys Sur Mer. So many graves and so many young people buried there. An emotional experience.

Moving

If you have any interest in history, you’ve got to visit Normandy, and a city called Caen. It was surreal standing on Omaha Beach.

D-Day

I want to get to know homaha beach. I like everything that has to do with WWII specially with the 101st airborne division. I’ve read Ambrose’s book and Larry Alexander’s.

6 months;

I had lived in Normandie France for 6 months before coming here to America.
Do I miss it?
Somewhat.
I didn’t really have a lot of time to get to know the area or the people, it was more of a stepping stone for us, but it was interesting.
The scenery & history is really a strong point for this city. If you’re into either of those, this might be a good spot to sight-see & read up on some things. Not really touristy.

Gorgeous and Historic

I’ve visited Normandy several times, the most memmorable was on the 50th anniversary of d-day (also my 15th birthday). We spent hours hiking along the coast tyring to visualize what the experience of the landing must have been like for Allied troops.

The area is very beautiful and definitely worth visiting.
