Antwerp aka: Antwerpen, Anvers

I have lived here for 6 years and I love it! It is the biggest city of Flanders (the dutch speaking part of Belgium) and has 103 nationalities living here! So if you like interculturality this is the place to be!

just come back from two days ‘work’ here. stayed at the hilton which was absolutely superb. the stella tastes better here than the uk – it doesn’t have that chemical aftertaste.

the shops looked pretty good – lots of antique stores, modern furniture, art etc but unfortunately i didn’t have time to have a proper look.

It’s not terribly bad, but when you compare Antwerp to Bruges, Gent or Brussels, it just doesn’t do anything for me. You’ll like Antwerp if you like to shop for clothes and expensive accessories. Which I don’t. There’s a church and a square and an excuse for an old castle, but I wasn’t impressed by either.

If you’ve got time or you want to shop, go visit antwerp. Otherwise, go to Bruges. It’s much nicer.

As a field trip, the American Elementary School took us to Antwerp to the zoo. At the time, if I remember correctly, there was construction going on, I believe it might have been on a church or something like that.

Unfortunately my travels were only when on business. But I did manage to walk around a little. As is the case with most European cities, you’re surrounded by history and a lot of very nice people.

I went to Antwerp 4 months ago. Beautiful train station, crowded streets, fascinating Jewish people everywhere.

Will be visiting again and again in the near future, since my father moved there recently.

eat them, they are delicious and go down smoothly with a nice white beer… mmmm….

I live in Bruges now, but I’ve always been a lover of Antwerp.. spending so much time there in the ‘early years’ (read: youth)...

Well, I’m really into fashion, and Antwerp is famous for its contribution to fashion industry and producing hundful top designers. I just want to walk around the city, doing window shopping.
