Wonderful interior Mexico
I’ve been here. It’s beautiful. I am going back this summer. This time I’m renting a car so I’m not at the mercy of the cab drivers…

On my solo backpacking trip through Mexico, I came upon Guanajuato, and my experiences there become the highlights of my trip.
Meeting Michael, sharing a fun night of parties with a bunch of local university students on the night of the Flower Dance, and finally, sharing the kiss with Michael under the balconies of Callejon del Beso… the perfect travel romance story!

I couldn’t believe how beautiful this city is! Every fall they have a festival called Cervantino—it is not to be missed. See more information here:

I went to Guanajuato in March as part of a 2 week trip through colonial Mexico. My grandparents were from this area and came to the US in 1917 because of the Mexican revolution. It was so interesting because the city is built on the sides of mountains and there are tunnels from the old silver mines that are for transportation.
The other most interesting thing is how familiar so many of the people looked to me. As if I was seeing my family—I saw the high cheekbones and large teeth that’s the Marquez family’s trademarks

Its some what of a college town, alot of history in this town. small streets bring you back to the old times. Jardines, town squares are a good hang out place for young people on the afternoons. Enjoy visiting with friends have a beer or coffee and listen to good music. visit museo de las momias. natural made mummies because guanjuato is rich with minerals. Also a good place to buy leather goods.
of October the famous Cervantino Festival is held in honour of the illustrious author Miguel de Cervantes, with a variety of national and international cultural and artistic events. There are exhibitions, plays, concerts, cinema and all sorts of events, turning the city into a hotbed of culture.
I have not been there for this event, I am making plans to go next year.
