A tip I have about this place

Istanbul-
Spend at least a week here and stay in different places. Taxim is amazing as is Babek. The islands are fun and Sultanamed is very interesting. Take a Turkish Bath! Ride the Ferry! Go to the Grand Bazzar. Sit in a cafe and talk to the locals while you sip tea and play backgammon. It’s beautiful. I’d go back tomorrow.

Bodrum-
Amazing and fun! Go on a boat trip. Visit the castle. There is a yacht club that has music and dancing and right across the way, on the roof of a building is a pizza joint that has pizza that is 2 die 4!

beautiful place

I went to Istanbul about 5 years ago The food is fantastic, the people warm, and friendly. The cafes on the Bosphorus Sea were so romantic and relaxing.

How this place changed my life

My wife and I live in Istanbul for 1 year and it changed our life. It was our first experience living in a Muslim culture living and telling people about Jesus in the 1980’s

A tip I have about this place

If you get a chance to visit during elections, do so! This is when the cities truly come to life with patriotism and local culture!

(NOTHING like the United States elections! Banners are hung EVERYWHERE and celebrations in the streets… Vans ride up and down the streets with national anthems and particular parties songs playing! Everyone truly comes to life with a passion for the country and it’s future!)

Why I recommend this place to visitors

My best friend is from Turkey. She is currently studying in the United States (this is how we met) and I was finally able to visit her home country this past summer for a month and it was absolutely spectacular.

I didn’t know what to expect from the country, but now, I can’t wait to go back. The beaches are amazing, the cities are full of life and adventure, and the culture will simply take your breath away.

Luckily for me, since she is a native, communication wasn’t a problem.(My english, spanish, and italian didn’t help me a bit!) I did think that more people would speak English though… Although youths have a great grasp on the language, many older Turks did not, making it a little diffucult sometimes.. but they are very willing to work with you to make sure they understand exactly what you mean to say or need. If you are considering visiting, don’t let the language barriers hold you back!

If anyone has the opportunity to visit or live in this country, please do so!

I can’t wait to return…

Why I want to go to this place

When I was young, a pair of family friends took a midlife retirement hiatus and sailed the mediteranian for 4 years. upon their return, they both said that Turkey was their favorite country of all. Ever since hearing their stories, I have dreamed about going to Turkey

As I got older, I learned more about the culture, history, and architecture, and it sounds like such an interesting place. I am very interested to see how east meets west by spending time in TURKEY!

I also MUST see the Hagia Sofia.

Turkey is one of the top 5 places on earth I want to visit.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

This country is raw and beautiful! I loved the food..fresh bread and all the honey soaked pastries. A Turkish wedding is a true expeirence. Americans might be overwhelmed by the body order but get over it and take everything in! So much history here! I want to go back and see all the stuff I missed the first time there.
