Ahh, I miss Korea. by jadegreenwhispers

I spent my last year of high school there (I’m Canadian but lived in Texas) and loved it. I’ve lived in foreign countries before, but when I first got there, it was my first time to ever experience culture shock (I lived on Goeje island, where not that many locals spoke english). But once I soaked into the culture, and discovered Seoul, I ended up falling in love with this country. I hope to visit again one day. Seoul especially will always hold a special place in my heart.

I loved how it was so easy to get around in Korea. Their transportation systems are flawless and I wish the U.S. (southern U.S.) would take a hint and improve their own systems.

Friendly people, beautiful country. Great shopping. Good food too.

There’s just something so freeing about this place. Definitely go if you get the chance.

Just arrived! by DerJon

Well, I just arrived in South Korea. I will be starting my job as an English teacher next week, and I am very excited! Everyone has been very nice thus far; it makes me feel very welcome! I have eaten two meals since being here, both with chopsticks, one on the floor. Already, this has been quite the experience! Can’t wait to see what the coming year has in store for me! Will update as things happen!

I loved my trip to Korea, mostly because my good friend lives there and visiting her made my trip.

I tasted a lot of food, i mean a looot, I think it sort of tramatized my fd a little bit that I digested sooooo much food. But they were all so delicious!

I would recommend street food more than high-end restaurants, they are cheaper and more delicious.

And u can always count on running into a celebrity, they will be in those black, expensive looking vans, we just paced around one because we were too scared to knock, lol, still, we enjoyed the presence of the invisible celeb. Lovely memories.

On the bus by Petrigirl

I was there with my martial arts, Hwa Rang Do – it was a homecoming for the school and the Grand Master, Dr. Joo Bang Lee. I think it was the 5th day out of a 9 day trip, and we’d been on a bus for most of it. We were driving up the west side of the penninsula, I can’t be more specific about our location, unfortunately. We were on a curvy road pretty deep in the mountains, when we came around the bend into a valley that contained a small village. In the center of this village stood a statue of Buddha which had to be 30 feet tall; it was heads and shoulders above the rest of the bulidings and trees. It was gold in color and the sun’s setting rays captured it perfectly. I think I was the only one on the bus who saw it; many were sleeping or reading, some were just trying to get over their hangovers. I tried to get a picture, but at that moment my camera malfunctioned. By the time it was behaving, we were already around the next bend and up the side of another ridge. All I have of that beautiful moment is a really blurry photograph and an pristine memory.

I was only here for 8 days, which in my opinion was not nearly enough to truly get a feel for it. But compared to China it is clean, modern, and efficient, and everyone was dead polite and helpful. The scenery was amazing as well, mountains everywhere and all that. Would definitely go back.

I depart for Seoul, Korea on January 20th for a minimum of 2 years. It’s job related. I’m beginning to learn the language. To me, the pronounciation is more difficult than Chinese. At least there are no inflections in Korean. I’m looking forward to immerse myself in the culture. I’m fascinated with languages in general. Korea will give me the opportunity to become fluent in Korean. I will visit as many places as I can before I leave this earth. There is so much to see and do, and standing in one place will cause me to dwindle away.

Did you know that in the Seoul Zoo they have a Liger? (a Lion/Tiger hybrid?) If that isn’t a reason to go to South Korea, I don’t know what is.

Oh, and also the History, Architecture, Shopping, and Korean Barbeque
