nice place

It’s like any other big city- but with all the centuries at one time. You can see the superior technological skyscrapers with their digital lights, or be reminded of the ancient times with the cobblestone paths and street vendors. Americans sensitive to humidity will find it very uncomfortable. The malls there frown on trying on clothing. Subway is awesome. I miss the stationary stores full of erasers and stationary. I miss the smell of the tropical flowers that grew out of the cracks in the wall. There are some awesome local foodplaces, got to put on a few pounds there.

I’ve been to Taiwan twice, back in 2001 and 2002 when I got talking to a lovely Taiwanese girl online. In the end things didn’t work out but still have fond memories of my time in this beautiful, largely unknown country. Taipei is great but I spent most of my time in and around Kaohsiung, another bustling city. If you love Chinese food then this is one place you have to visit! Before I went I used to be like most people, thinking it was just a place where cheap products were made. In reality, its so so much more. I just can’t understand why its so largely ignored as a tourist destination – on the other hand that’s probably why I like it so much and why I feel very lucky to have been there. Will definitely be going back again one day.

its the furthest thing away from what i know. it seems beautiful, peaceful and full of life.

I was not able to climb 101. =( I hope I could go back and see Taipei from 101.

I spent a month in Taiwan with a family there. I will never forget the bustling city of Taipei and speeding up the fastest elevator in the world! I will never forget going to that same corner vender for breakfast every morning. I will never forget the boat ride across the Sun and Moon Lake. I will never forget the country and the beautiful scenery. I will never forget Taiwan.
