The last time I went to this place

...I went to Rzeszow in South East(ish) Poland to visit my long term friend Marcin. It was a flying visit- 4 days exactly and worth the looooong time it took to get there (overnight in Stansted, not again thanks!). Rzeszow airport looks a bit like a bus shelter and I’m sure a hamster powers the luggage conveyor belt.
Rzeszow itself is pretty nice, not as nice as Krakow, but still, the old town is nice. A shame that they were doing up the town square when I was there! The old town is separated from the new town by a murky looking river (?) which is pretty barren and I’m sure a perfect place for all kinds of misbehaving.
Pub wise, there are lots of nice places to go to where the booze is cheap. We went to an Irish pub which was quite novel before heading to a pub where the tables and chairs were old items from hospitals and dentist practises. Mm, sterile.
Best place by far was a small jazz-esque bar where an art exhibition was going on. Que far too much vodka and bouncing off the walls (literally) to get to the loo.
Not a place I’d recommend for those who don’t have Polish friends who live there.
I’d recommend Krakow, Zakopane and Torun before saying head to Rzeszow!

Why I want to go to this place

One day I will go to Poland and visit the historic sites of the Holocaust. This will not be a pleasurable experience, but it will be a deeply meaningful one.

Hopefully, I can find some good times in Warsaw and Krakow as well!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I strongly recommend visiting Poland. It is very popular to see Kraków, Warszawa, Auschwitz. However you also nave to see The Warsaw Rising Museum (It makes greater impression than Auschwitz in my opinion) and lots of small towns and villiges all over the country. You can really feel the rural atmosphere, and participate in daily tradion which are preserved unspoilt from X century. The best time to visit poland is the harvest celebration, when people wear traditional cloths, sing folk songs, and everywhere is one great party. Some of you say that Polish food is really heavy and full of calories. Maybe you’re right, however, 90% of Poles are slim, so I don’t see any problem. And it is much more healthier and taster than many ‘ecological food’ I was in UK, and the food was awful with all this chemical staff. In Poland you can easily get, for example the milk striaght from cow.

The first time I went to this place

I really enjoyed the city center. It’s quaint and beautiful. There’s a great coffee shop there too.

Wing & a Prayer

What a great place. We had an Eastern European rail pass and crossed all of Poland. We crossed from Copenhagen to some town I don’t even know the name of. From wherever we were, we took a train to Prague.

With the pass, we went back to Krakow and Auschwitz. Krakow is beautiful. My wife purchased some amber jewelry, which is quite nice.

Auschwitz is an intense experience, and not for the faint of heart. It is NOT a must see sight, but rather an experience honoring those who suffered needlessly.

A review of this place: Great shopping for pottery!

If you buy polish pottery anywhere than Poland you are getting seriously ripped off! If you don’t have any..get some! They make cooking and cleaning so much easier. The food isn’t all that spectacular. A little gloomy from the area’s I’ve seen but every place is worth a visit. You definitly will see buildings still lived in from the 1800’s, thats pretty cool! Children beg for money as it is a poor country but beware they can get ruthless about it.
