I’ve been here once before, but I was 11 years old. I really want to go again! I loved snorkeling there. Beautiful water.

Take the ferry ride from Cozumel to Cancun or vise versa. It’s worth the trip to visit both locations. Also, if you are in Cozumel, the cab ride into the plaza is only five dollars U.S.. It’s worth it and there are always cabs. Renting a car isn’t necessary unless you want to travel to the Northern or Southern tips.

If you are into Mayan ruins, here are a few lesser known places to visit. If you are in the Yucatan and coming from or on your way to Chichen Itza, it’s worth it to stop in Valldolid and go out to Ek Balam. (I may have already posted that one.)
Also, when I was in Chiapas this summer, I decided to go to Bonampak and Yaxchilan after visiting Palenque and on my way to Tikal. It was well worth it because they are impressive sites surrounded by jungle…and there were hardly any other people there! It is a 40 minute boat ride from La Mesilla just to reach the ruins at Yaxchilan! Bring good shoes and be ready to sweat as it is unforgivingly hot!
I’ve heard it is much cheaper to book a trip through a company to see these sites than to try it on your own with public transport.

I grew up in south Texas, so I’ve been to Mexico quite a few times. The last city I visited was Cancun, but hubby and I are hoping to visit again this coming winter to see Chichen Itza!

When I was around 9, my brother, sister and I took baths in cold water in a “pila”. Basically a large sink. We have a cute picture.

I went to Mexico, mainly Progresso, Yucatan and Cozumel. One of the greatest experiences of my life. Incredibly gorgeous. Went snorkeling, visited Mayan ruins, and just sat on the beach not thinking about anything. I would definetly reccomend it to anyone!
