Why I want to go to this place

My father’s family is from Lithuania. His parents’ parents came to America. My grandfather changed our last name to better fit in with Americans. Both of my dad’s parents died when I was young. There is no one here who knows anything about his family, including his brother and sister. I would like to go to Lithuania to find my family. And, perhaps, my heritage.

Lithuania

Beautiful nature and really really nice beaches. I saw dolphins for the first time in sealife in Lithuania. The show was something amazing.

I was on a drive-through trip in Lithuania and I loved that all the roads are lately renewed and the road-signs do their job well.

Why I want to go to this place

I want to go to Lithuania very badly—I am Lithuanian by decent, and it’s somewhat ingrained into me that I need to go to the “motherland” so to say. When researching Lithuanians I see many similarities and habits that you don’t think about being a connection to anything being connected to this country…or at least in my mind anyways. I need to go see my heritage-and the beauty.

Why I want to go to this place

I’m Lithuanian, my mothers grandfather was born there and came to the US where my grandfather was born. I’d love to see where some of my roots are.

I was born here, moved away when I was younger, and have visited once. I lived in Vilnuis and Panevezis, and a few other places. Its nice, it has a lot more personal feeling I guess when you meet somebody. People seem nicer than in US. At the same time, I wouldn’t go back to live.

Why I want to go to this place

I spent over a year with this wonderful Lithuanian woman that I met at work in the US. 5 months ago she decided it would be best for her and her child (from a previous marriage) to stay in Vilnius. Her child stayed in Vilnius with her mum and has never come to the US. After visiting two times now I can understand why. Sure the winters are cold, but the family ties are very warm. I have to say I felt more like family there then I do with my own family. They really made me feel welcome. Unfortunately, because of my American debt I have to pay off a few things before I am able to join her in Lithuania. I have several questions though. (1) Does anyone know what the process is for a US citizen to relocate to Lithuania? I do plan to ask her to marry me in the next six months if this makes a difference. My profession of 15 years is in Technology specializing in Computers. (Computer Analyst) I currently do not know the language yet. (2) Are their Technical positions in Vilnius available for someone with my talents? If so what is the pay scale?
Any advice or suggestions is so welcome,
Thank you for your time.

Why I want to go to this place

The short answer to why, is to follow a lost love. The long answer is coming next.
