Took a short trip through the Sani Pass. Had great local bread and beer in a mud hut and enjoyed the scenery along the way.

We visited Lesotho as a family back in 1996 because my dad used to spend his holidays there as a boy visiting his grandfather who ran the QM store in Leribe. The house is still there and my dad told us of how he first saw an aeroplane there – it looked like a car but it went around the house and took off. That moment sparked his wonder with aeroplanes but unfortunately he did not become a pilot as his grandfather was paying for his tuition and instead said he should become an engineer. It was great to actually see a part of my dad’s childhood.

While we didn’t enjoy our short time in Maseru, once we got out into the rest of Lesotho we had a wonderful time. The scenery is simply stunning and the people were very friendly.
Vegan food is hard to come by, however…

This is unique country in the middle of South Africa. Totally different way of life. I’d like to write a number of research papers about it and present them in my college.

I spent the first 18 years of my life in Lesotho. I was blessed to grow up there. There is nothing more breathtaking than ponytrekking in the mountains.

on a trip to the free state (which borders Lesotho), I crossed the border on a rickety metal bridge. I came straight back and have since heard so much about the place – I’m dying for a real visit.
