United Kingdom aka: Great Britain, UK

The most memorable thing we did here was the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. The lamest, but often hyped attraction was Stonehenge. Maybe it was cool when you didn’t have to circle around it on a hot day 50 feet away…

I finally made it to England a few months ago, and perhaps I was jaded by the week dollar, small hotel rooms, and too much time in trains and taxis. I found England to be a “nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there.” After living in Sydney for 3 years, and traveled just about everywhere else… even the most impressive parts of London seemed small in comparison to other places I’ve been. I felt like I had been their before. Definitely the highlights were the people we met and the pubs we spent time in…. but beyond that, at times I felt like I could have been in just about any other major metropolitan area.

Highlights: The Greenwich Meridian Line, sights on the Thames, pubs in Chiswick and Richmond….pub food, London Pride Beer, ladies on hens nights….

Lowlights: Restaurants, crowded trains, expensive taxis, Herrods

London is a fantastic place to live. Possibly the best. Yes it can be expensive and busy, and the weather isn’t always great, but the cultural diversity, opportunities available, history, fantastic architecture alongside beautiful parks, great transport links, shopping, and nightlife really do make London a vibrant city and a great place to live. I would never grow tired of living in London. Things are always changing and there is always something new to do or see.

London is definitely a place for city people, so if you are not to keen on the hustle and bustle of a city I wouldn’t recommend you stay too long as our fast pace is often too much for people that aren’t used to it. Having said that there is something for everyone, so if Piccadilly Circus becomes too much, a short trip on the Tube will get you to one of London’s beautiful and calm parks.

The transport links with towns outside of London are great too. St Albans is around 22 miles north of Central London and is only 20 minutes on the train from King’s Cross. St Albans is a Roman city, with a beautiful Cathedral. There is a street market in the town centre every Wednesday and Saturday and it has the most pubs per square mile in the country. It is highly suburban in character so is a great escape from London.

London was a spectacular city. I’ve visited it two summers in a row, and I can’t wait to go back. I’ve never seen anything so vibrant.

The UK is by far the best place I’ve ever been! I loved it I would go a thousand times more! England has the best culture, while still speaking English! I love it! GO! GO! GO! I definitely reccomend to visit England for at LEAST 14 days!!!! SEE EVERYTHING!

It was the summer of 2007, I went to London to the book premiere of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows. It was magic!!

I lived there for 12 years.

I’m going to the UK in six days! WHOLLY CRAP!

A friend of mine is in University in Birmingham, and I’m going to visit her. We’re also going to Coventry, and to Cardiff, Wales, so I can mark that of my list too!

London. Love it. It’s the best place in the world, honestly.
