Estonia aka: Eesti

The old city of Tallin is very beautiful and romantic. I was surprised of it cause I had imagined Estonia very differend. I would like to go back.

That I’ve been to Estonia. I was just there last week, just for a few hours, but what a few hours! A charming town, doesn’t seem like a city, and its people are brave and fiercely independent.

I went to Talin and fell in love the quaint town. I feel like gnomes should live there because there are amazing turreted, stone buildings, flowers, and wonderful people there. I sent myself a post card from Talin and it was fun to have the souvenir. I wouldn’t recommended a city tour by bus, but just spend time wandering the town center by foot. The ice cream is cheap and good.

It was March 1989, and the Red Army was patrolling the streets of Tallinn. It was right during the “Baltic Revolt”, when the Estonians were declaring their independence. So it was rough, but we managed not to be stopped at a checkpoint, and visited some a high school while there. It was illegal to fly the national flag too, the old Soviet Estonian flag was still flying in downtown, but the tricolor “sinina, must ja valga” was flying atop “Tall Herman”. We stayed at the Viru Hotel. What a cool time it was! And we met the Estonian resistance at this pub in the old town, and had pizza and beer and sang songs, but did not understand a word! Okay, I’ve been there a total of 3 times now, and cannot wait to return. Okay, along with Finland, this country changed my life.

I really like Estonia. Well, I have only been in Tallinn and I’m more than shamed because of the fact that Finnish people go there only to drink. Well, I have tried to chainge this..
My dream would go to southern Estonia too!

I heard there is lots of good canoeing and hiking there. I think it looks like a beautiful country. It just sounds interesting to me for some reason.

I am estonian! I want to go to estonia so badly to find out more about my culture. My sister went, and she’s going again next year to take a language class. The language is so beautiful it sounds like you are speaking in poetry the whole time!
