I spent 2 weeks in Egypt in April/May 2007… the country is incredible! I visited temples, pyramids, monuments, museums…. all in awe of the history. I felt like pinching myself many times because it felt so surreal. It never occured to me when I was younger that I would get the opportunity to go to Egypt.

Does anyone have any suggestions for women traveling in Egypt? My friend and I (both females) are going there in March. We’ll be in Cairo, El Siwa, and all along the Nile. Other than the obvious suggestion to dress conservatively, I’d like some specific tips. Thanks!

girls who are not looking for egyptian men but looking for some relaxation will avoid too much attention if they go to egypt during the time of Ramadan.

getting around by taxi rather than renting a car is a good idea, the roads there (or at least in Cairo) are crazy. seriously.

Just back from two weeks in Egypt. We went there training so didn’t really get to do the touristy thing. We did go to see the pyramids and the museum. It was amazing, would love to have gotten to see more, maybe another time??

I have Egyptian friends who regularly visit Egypt. They come back with stories of adventure. I’ve been invited several times, but have yet found the time to go. I want to visit Mosques and Churches – I have Muslim and Coptic (Christian) friends. I want to taste their foods, some of which I’ve already developed a taste for: koefta, swarma, bastirma, molokhia, etc. I want to sit in coffee/tea houses and just talk with anyone who will talk with me. I want to tour the deserts, maybe even ride camels.
