Ecuador

my fiance’s father immigrated to the United States from Ecuador when he was nine. though my fiance has never had the oppertunity to travel to Ecuador, hopefully he will get to go this summer, and hopefully I will be going too.

though he’s never been before, Ecuador is something that is sooo close to his heart. he is so proud of his heritage. its inspiring. he has the flag of Ecuador above his bed, he talks about going all the time. I cant wait to be able to share that with him. I wear a bracelet from Ecuador (almost) every day.

gorgeous. been to quito and the galapagos islands. amazing. time of my life. will probably never experience anything like it again.

For such a small country, it has almost every climate imaginable. The cool mountains, the sunny coast, the humid tropics, the artsy cities, the cultural icons, etc.

A must see. And yes, go to Guayaquil (not just to Quito)—it is a great city.

This was my first time in the jungle, the JUNGLE man! I was in a mining exploration camp, there were moths as big as myhand, beautiful flora, I swam in the river. An awesome experience!!

I lived here for 2 years and traveled all around this most beautiful country.

I went for a mission trip to help build a church. We also held a Vacation Bible School. The last couple days we went shopping in local markets, malls, and went sight seeing. The Galapagos was too expensive for us and really you’ll find that Ecuador is so much more than the Galapagos.This trip was one of my most rewarding experiences.

I need to see the diverse and beautiful animals on the Galapagos in their natural habitats, to get up close to sea lions and tortoises. I want to see the Quechua way of life, to bask in the bright colors and the glorious sounds of the locals. I want to play soccer with the local children, haggle in markets, and party it up in Quito.

IT MIGHT HAPPEN! Well, in December 2008-February 2009. I think I want to go and volunteer to teach English for a few months, and then somehow make my way to the Galapagos islands to check out the tortoises.
It’s exciting to find a place to fixate upon and save up money for :) and I can learn a new language. Hola!

I was born here and its been so long since I have gone back, would love to see it again.

I gots to free up room on my list – putting on hold the more outlying destinations. Sorry, Ecuador. Someday
