Chimp Tracking

I went to Uganda to work with orphans there but for fun went chimp trakcing. WOW so much fun chasing sounds of chimps and chimp calls through the rain forest. Then catching up with then and watching them interact in their natural habitat. What a rush.

gorillas and massacres....

Two things stick in my mind about Uganda. Seeing the absolutely amazing, stunning, beautiful, cute, frightening, handsome silver backed gorillas. Tracking them through the Ugandan countryside, up mountains was truly amazing.
The other side to Uganda which sticks in my mind is being taken to a church by locals that was full of human bones, almost to the cieling from a massacre that took place where over 200 people were killed with machetees.Truly a sight I will never forget as long as I live…...

i went against my parents wishes and on my own faith and volunteered alone for six weeks with an amazing organization called African Greater Life Missions. I lived with a Ugandan family and taught at an orphanage on the weekdays an hour outside the city. I had never been happier in all my life. I had a Uganda mom, dad, 8 year old and 6 year old sisters, and a 5 year old brother, and a 4 month baby brother as well. they became my FAMILY. i had 5 genius students who loved to be taught more than anything. It is a place that will shape you and break you. You learn to walk the streets, and find your way through the maze of the old and new bus parks, how much bananas should really cost and what fried grasshoppers taste like. more than anything, it taught me how to LOVE and how amazing blessed I am.

in my opinion, everyone should go to africa. :)

and yes, this is all because i saw invisible children three years ago (for those of you wonderiiiiing) you can do it! and you can do it alone! it’s totally possible. all things are possible!

A review of this place

Uganda is the most beautiful country I have ever been to: lush and green, beautiful lakes, and the friendliest people. I recommend getting outside the main city and exploring rural Uganda – hiking, rafting, and visiting with people. There’s also lots of opportunity to get involved in community development and volunteering with various organizations

How this place changed my life

I was born here, this country holds my roots, my people and my family. The last time I went home was in 1997 and before that was like…wayyyyyyyyyy too long ago to even mention! I feel ashamed to of not gone back in such a long time, I cant describe my want – no NEED to go back.

I was here to work with Watoto and built a house for orphans. Also helped at Sanyu Babie’s Home. We also drove to the western side to Mweya and Lake Edward, which borders Zaire.
I love Uganda, I can’t wait to go back! Everyone is so nice and so loving, it was awesome to see them extend their love and hospitality when we were there to bless them!!

Why I want to go to this place

I really want to go to Uganda and volunteer with an organization. I’m looking for one that covers housing and food once there; I can handle the plane ticket. If anyone knows of any good ones please let me know!!
