Take a day & hike down to the river. Also if you’re coming from Albequerque or heading east you should check out Chaco canyon on the way. Better yet, go up north a little into Utah to Lake Powell and rent a boat. Watersports heaven. We rented a houseboat & waverunners and towed a speedboat. It was so cool..
over 5 years agoIt’s a very beautiful place to visit, but there is a significant disparity between the classes. I went with a Thai friend who’s family lives quite well. They are factory owners and live in a compound with 6 mercedes and guarded gates. It’s like paradise, but if you travel in any one direction for long you are bound to see some very unhappy people. It was a very nice trip but I left feeling somewhat guilty for the way I live. Elephants are so cool.
over 5 years agoIt’s a great place to get away from the anxieties of everyday life. A friend of my family owns almost half of the town & lives on an island only accessible by boat at high tide (Gotts Island). He really has it good up there.
