This park is the best in Houston(in my opinion). It is surrounded by the museum district, has art, a zoo, the miller outdoor theatre is here, great for picnics, ride the mini-train, japanese gardens, reflecting pool, small lake, a 2 mile jogging trail, even a golf course. There are also always all kinds of events happening here. I love this park most dearly of all things Houston, I can’t believe that nobody bothered adding it until now. The only explanation is that everyone added everything that is in and around the park, so they forgot that this was all part of the park.

Great place to go jogging or meet people.

For meals. You can get all kinds of food, you go in and shop like you would a grocery store! It’s a neat idea. Also for people that don’t know, if you go a little later in the evening there is a large red light that starts flashing about 2 hours before they shut down for the night. All the meals are half price during that time! Neat place worth visiting just for the experience of something different.

But, that said it is a very nice one. Also you can see a lot of movies here that you wouldn’t get to see anywhere else in Houston. Close proximity to Bayou Place and a ton of nice, to very nice restaurants. Great for a dinner and a movie night out.

Get the day passes for the trolly cars, you will be so glad you did. The trolly cars run just about everywhere you want to go in the city. The riverwalk is wonderful, but don’t forget there are other things in San Antonio than the riverwalk and the Alamo. There is the mission tour, El Mercado, Six Flags, Seaworld, the zoo. It is on my shortlist of my favorite 2-day vacation spots. Not really a 2-week vacation type place though.

I wouldn’t want to live here, too many people everywhere you go.

Don’t fill up on the Denny’s quality food though. As the name implies this is a place for amazing pies. The food is so..so, the environment is a nice change for the busy city life, but the pies (they have something close to 40 kinds) are what make this place special.

There is plenty to do in Houston, unfortunatly this town doesn’t make it easy to find anything, and most places you need your own car to get to. Short list of places you might want to hit if you are in town: Nasa, Astrodome/Reliant Stadiums, museum district, herman park, the zoo, the galleria, the forbidden gardens, Minute Maid park, bayou center, the alley theatre, the opera house, Sam Houston park, San Jacinto memorial, and battleship texas. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head, there’s actually a bunch more, and I’m not even going to think about listing all the seasonal things that this town has. Worth a visit!
