Birmingham, Alabama
Only visited the downtown area.
Pretty much dead on a Sunday. But the people were really nice. Wish I had more time to explore other parts of the city.

over 3 years agoI went on a Sunday, so it was free but I donated a couple of dollars anyway. At first I thought was going to be the usual walking around a reading a bunch of stuff with some interesting pictures to add some flavor. But then I was directed to theater where I watched a very interesting short film on how blacks contributed to the early years of Birmingham. Then this really cool thing happens. The screen goes up and behind it is the main passage into the exhibit. The exhibit includes scenes from the lives of black americans during the times of segregation. The visitors experience the settings and the sight and sounds of the civil rights movement. I don’t want to give away what else is in the exhibit but it was an awesome tour. Well worth the admission if you happen to go on a weekday.
DARE I SAYWAYBETTERTHANTHEKINGCENTER IN ATLANTA!!!
A very cool place. It had a pretty big collection of European art. But I was really impressed that they had a collection of pieces from the plains and west coast indians. Go variety of different types of art. Also nice volunteers working there.
