I’m an artist so I’m happy in pretty much any gallery and I’ve spent alot of time in the other Parisian galleries, but the first time I was at the D’orsay was when I was recovering after an extended hospital stay a few years ago. I was overwhelmed by the place, it’s beautiful architecture and atmosphere and obviously the art as well coupled with the fact that I had just come through a traumatic personal period made the whole thing quite emotional. I’d recomend it to anyone, it lacks the prentiousness of the larger galleries and standing in the main hall it’s hard not to imagine how it must have been when the building was one of Paris’ largest train stations…
